A-1 Refrigeration, Inc. was started in 1940 by L.C. "Smitty" Schmidt.  In the beginning, A-1 consisted of Smitty, two servicemen in the field, and one bookkeeper in the office.  Work consisted mostly of installation and service of refrigeration systems at small "mom and pop" markets and refrigerated locker plants in Lincoln and the surrounding area.  Household refrigerators were also becoming more popular around this time.

Mechanical refrigeration was relatively new at that time and as the industry changed and grew, so did A-1 Refrigeration, Inc.  During the past 71 years we have grown to a staff of 11 service technicians and an office staff of 4.  Currently, A-1 Refrigeration, Inc. performs service and sales to over one thousand residential, commercial, and industrial accounts.
